 Issue

 - Failover or Load balancing techniques force us to have redundant Nagios configurations, this makes them heavy and difficult to handle.

Solution

With Centreon 2.0, you only need to specify on each host the server(s) you would like to run your tests on. Centreon will then send the configurations to different pollers.

The mechanism is handled by CentCore Module, the core of the distributed monitoring. Setting up a monitoring system with high availability and/or with cluster mode will then be very simple. There is no more need to create different configurations, Centreon will do it all!

The CentCore will also transmit all the external commands for hosts and services that are on remote pollers. From your Centreon, on the central server, you will be able to stop notifications from a host, service. You can also activate a forced checking on a host or service that is placed on a remote poller.

The data gathering  will be made with NDOutils, developed by Ethan Galstad, developer of Nagios. Please click here for details.

On the future versions of Centreon, we could add some plugins such as a load distribution calculator, to make it even more complete and powerful. You could imagine a case where a poller goes down, another one would then be able to take over the job automatically.

Thanks to that, Centreon will be able to handle a very important IT with high performance and optimized configuration management.
